RESULTS OF OUR TOURISM LEVY SURVEY - November/December 2022

The Wales Tourism Alliance, PASC UK and UKH Cymru released a short survey to gather feedback on the Consultation on  the Welsh Government's 'Proposals for a discretionary visitor levy for local authorities'. The majority sentiment projected has been included in our organisational responses. 

We had 361 responses over a two week window so a reasonably good sample size,  questions based on the areas within the consultation.

Rather unsurprisingly  the majority of respondents (75%) thought that Local Authorities should not have discretionary powers to charge a tourism levy and 92.5% thought it would have a detrimental effect on bookings!  If it were to go ahead 80% said they wanted any Levy raised to be ring-fenced for tourism support.
