The Wales Tourism Alliance, PASC UK and UKH Cymru released a short survey to gather feedback on the Consultation on the Welsh Government's 'Proposals for a discretionary visitor levy for local authorities'. The majority sentiment projected has been included in our organisational responses.
We had 361 responses over a two week window so a reasonably good sample size, questions based on the areas within the consultation. The full results can be seen here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/results/SM-LuYMPc9c4QjXSrINOqiUEw_3D_3D/ Rather unsurprisingly the majority of respondents (75%) thought that Local Authorities should not have discretionary powers to charge a tourism levy and 92.5% thought it would have a detrimental effect on bookings! If it were to go ahead 80% said they wanted any Levy raised to be ring-fenced for tourism support. Many thanks to all those who responded.
