‘Co-operating to Compete’ is the theme of this year’s Wales Tourism Week which aims to highlight the power of partnerships across the industry. Our annual reception, sponsored by the Caravan & Motorhome Club, is being organised at the Senedd in Cardiff, home of the National Assembly for Wales, on May 15. The guest speech will be delivered by Lord Dafydd Elis Thomas, who holds the tourism portfolio within the Welsh Government. The WTA, along with its partners, is calling on tourism associations, trade organisations and businesses across the country to organise events that highlight the importance of the industry and emphasise partnership. WTA and Tourism Association members play pivotal roles in local, regional and national partnerships, often as unsung heroes operating away from the limelight, but providing trust, integrity and insight across all business and government sectors. Adrian Barsby, WTA chair, said: “We are entering a particularly turbulent political era and we want tourism associations and businesses to contact their local elected members at whatever level and invite them to meet their local tourism businesses".
