The Welsh Government have announced new local restrictions that come into force for Denbighshire, Flintshire, Conwy and Wrexham at 6pm, 1st of October. As in the restricted areas of South Wales, anyone living in these areas will not be allowed to enter or leave without a reasonable excuse and a holiday is not a ‘reasonable excuse’. The Welsh Government guidance to people who ‘do not have a good reason (a “reasonable excuse”) to stay in the area’ is to ‘leave as soon as practicable’.
Although the law does not prevent people who live in a restricted area from travelling to or remaining at a holiday park in that same area, they are strongly discouraged from unnecessary travel. Tourism businesses are not legally responsible for enforcing these requirements on customers, but must not help customers to break them, restrictions are enforced by local authorities and the police. The obligation is on the individual - although please note a business which encourages a breach may also commit an offence. You may consider it appropriate to encourage customers to leave if they are able to do so and equally, to advise others not to come.
