The Welsh Government launched 'Prosperity for All' the new national strategy last year which identifies the role of the National Development Framework (NDF) as the guiding strategic document for Wales. The NDF focuses on the challenges and opportunities for Wales for the next 20 years and aims to establish how it will address them. Up for consultation are a number of Issues and Options which are based on previous engagement and discussion with stakeholders undertaken by the Welsh Government.
The consultation marks a key stage in its development and will set the direction for Welsh Government Policy for the foreseeable future. The NDF will bring together Welsh Government policies and deliver them through the planning system. By planning infrastructure and development together, the Welsh Government hopes to ensure they complement rather than compete against each other and therefore deliver sustainable development. It will also then have a top level role of setting the direction for other plans including Strategic Development Plans and Local Development Plans. As regards Tourism a cornerstone of the NDF is decarbonisation, this needs to be looked at in the context of tourism development in Wales as tourists and operators are heavily dependent on the car. The WTA will be putting in a response before the closing date but we would be extremely grateful if you could view the consultation documentation and forward your response, however short, to [email protected] before the 16th July 2018 Documentation can be found using this link: https://beta.gov.wales/national-development-framework-issues-options-and-preferred-option
