The Welsh Government has announced additional measures to ‘stop it rising in the way that we have seen elsewhere, so we do not have to take even more significant measures in future’.
Face coverings - The First Minister has announced that face coverings in shops and indoor spaces will be compulsory in Wales from 14/09/2020. Face coverings are not being made mandatory in workplaces and do not apply to people with exemptions on medical grounds. This brings us in-line with England and Scotland.
No more than six people to socialise together indoors - Indoor meetings of more than six people, who must all belong to the same 'extended household', will be illegal from 14/09/20. This rule does not apply to children aged 11 and under.
Local authority powers - Local authorities now have new powers to reduce the spread of coronavirus by closing premises and preventing events happening on public health grounds.
A local lockdown is currently in place in the Caerphilly County Borough area with additional restrictions.
