Food for Wales, Food from Wales 2010-2020 - Consultation on a Food Strategy for Wales
This Food Strategy focuses on both Food for Wales and Food from Wales, and looks to identify and address the issues around food that face all of us, including how best to balance the need for increased
food production with the need to protect our environment for the immediate and the longer term future. It provides direction for the next ten years for all those involved to achieve the food sector’s potential as
a key economic, environmental, social and cultural asset.
This Strategy is intended to provide the direction and capacity for policy makers, businesses and other stakeholders to both take advantage of the new opportunities on offer but also to prepare for and meet the complex challenges ahead.
This is an over arching directional Strategy which will fit in with the policy direction of the One Wales Government – any actions arising will be agreed and planned in partnership between the industry and
Government. There are existing plans identifying actions to be undertaken by the industry in partnership with Government – on Local Sourcing, Food Tourism, Red Meat, Dairy Horticulture and Organic sectors. These plans will be updated in the light of actions identified by the Strategy following the widespread consultation, and as the economic and policy environment changes. There may also be new action plans if required.
