    Tourism delegation meets Rt Hon Hugh Robertson MP - Minister Sport and Tourism on 17th January 2013

    The English Tourism Alliance arranged for a delegation of tourism industry representatives to meet Hugh Robertson MP; among those present were representatives of ETA and WTA membership organisations, including Ros Pritchard OBE, BHHPA; Ufi Ibrahim, BHA; Martin Stringer, Caravan Club alongside Adrian Greason-Walker, WTA and the ETA Chair, Michael Hirst OBE and others.     Minister accepts MP John Penrose’s call to liberate British tourism - Package Travel Reform

    The Consumer Affairs Minister Jo Swinson has written to the former Tourism Minister agreeing to work with Brussels and the industry on reforming the European Directive on Package Travel. Her letter came after the Weston-super-Mare MP had asked her to look into how the directive was holding back British holiday operators, and to liberate British resorts from some of its unnecessary burdens.     Lauriston Court Hotel Llandudno wins top TripAdvisor award

    The four-star Lauriston Court Hotel in Llandudno has the best service in the world, claims the tourism website TripAdvisor The 11 rooms at the hotel, run by husband and wife Carol-Lynn and Ian Robbins, start at £35 per night a head. The hotel has more than 400 "excellent" reviews on the website, although not all are glowing. The Lauriston also scooped sixth place for best bargain hotel in TripAdvisor's Travellers' Choice awards.     Home Office consultation “delivering the Government's policies to cut alcohol fuelled crime and anti-social behaviour”

    The Home Office  consultation on “delivering the Government's policies to cut alcohol fuelled crime and anti-social behaviour” finishes on the 6th February 2013. Most of the media focus has been on minimum pricing, however there is a section in the consultation that the Tourism Alliance  which relates to reduce the licensing requirements for businesses that sell or provide small amounts of alcohol.
