    The Camping and Caravanning Club’s DG awarded MBE

    Director General of The Camping and Caravanning Club Robert Louden has been awarded an MBE for services to the Outdoor Recreation Industry in the Queen's Birthday Honours List. Robert is also a former Chairman of Forest Holidays and currently Chairman of Camping in the Forest, both joint ventures with the Forestry Commission. He is a current member of the Club Care Insurance Management Committee.     Superfast Broadband Cymru Programme Roll Out

    The Superfast Cymru programme, which will provide high speed broadband to Welsh homes and businesses, has seen first new fibre broadband cabinet was unveiled in Bangor. The project, a partnership between the Welsh Government and BT, will take fibre broadband the length and breadth of Wales, and Welsh Government Minister, Edwina Hart MBE OSt.J AM,  unveiled the first new fibre broadband cabinet in High Street, Bangor which will serve hundreds of homes and businesses in the area.     Consultation - Draft Technical Advice Note (TAN) 23 Economic Development

    In November 2012 the Welsh Government published a revised Planning Policy Wales Chapter 7 on Economic Development.  The Welsh Government recognised that the policy needed to be supplemented by a technical advice note to provide more detailed guidance to assist local planning authorities prepare their Local Development Plans and make planning decisions.  This draft TAN is the result of that process.  A detailed practice guide will also be produced to advise local planning authorities about undertaking Employment Land Reviews, and this will be the subject of a further consultation that...     Confirmed overseas visitors enjoy Britain’s parks and gardens

    Visit Britain released research this week showing that overseas visitors love our parks and gardens, with around a third of visitors going to a park or garden during their stay, and over half of all “holiday” visitors explore our green surrounds each year. Around a third of the 31 million people who visit Britain each year, enjoy going to a park or garden.     IPS figures released for April 2013

    The latest International Passenger Survey shows a picture of steady visitor numbers but increases in visitor spend. Overall visitor numbers are down by 1% for the month of April 2013, but expenditure is up by 13% over April 2012. While monthly figures can vary considerably, the year to date figures are showing a similar trend, with revenue up 12% over 2012 while visitor numbers are up just 1%.     Visit Britain announces latest figures from GREAT image campaign

    The £25m GREAT campaign coordinated by Visit Britain targeted 14 major cities in nine countries. It is currently VB's prime advertising campaign and aims to attract a greater number of overseas visitors to all parts of Britain. Analysis of the first year of the campaign has revealed that it has potentially driven an additional 422,000 visitors to Britain, which would result in an additional £200 million of visitor spending over the next two years.
