Hopes of reviving Cork ferry sailings
Friday, 03 February 2012
THE owners of the ferry service between Cork and Swansea have said they will try to revive it after the company was forced into receivership earlier this week
Fastnet Lines was forced to stop the sailings after it was unable to source the necessary funding to allow it to continue trading. It means the loss of seven permanent and 71 contract jobs.
However, Noel Murphy, chairman of West Cork Tourism Co-op Society Ltd, which owns Fastnet Lines, has said it will begin looking at ways of reviving the service as it provides a vital tourist link between Cork and Kerry and South Wales.
