Google offering internet classes for businesses
A COLLABORATION between internet giant Google and the Welsh Government is aiming to help businesses improve their web presence.
Google UK is undertaking a 12-month programme across Wales to provide more than 1,000 free consultations and e-skills workshops to help businesses set up a website or improve their online presence.
According to figures provided by Google, as many as 40% of Welsh SMEs do not currently have a website and only 33% – well below the UK average – are e-commerce enabled.
And while 84% of small businesses in Wales say they use the internet in some way, the comparable UK figure stands at almost 90%.
Under the initiative experts will tour the country in the Google “Juice Bar” offering free one-to-one lessons on how to boost traffic to websites and increase business online, with the first event being held in Cardiff on March 6.
Business owners in Wales can sign up for the free events at www.gbbo.co.uk/wales
