Business rates views wanted
TOURISM businesses are being asked for their input on a review of business rates.
Last year Edwina Hart AM, Welsh Government Minister for Business, Enterprise, Technology and Science, established a Task and Finish Group to consider Welsh business rates policies and their effects on small businesses, such as those operating in the tourism sector.
The group is looking at whether the policies meet the needs of businesses, assess their implications, and see how targeted action can encourage economic development.
Evidence on the effects of business rate policies has to be provided to the Task and Finish Group by January 27.
Anyone wishing to make comments should send them to Adrian D. Greason-Walker via email at adrian@wta.org.uk as soon as possible.
The Welsh Government is extending its enhanced small business rate relief scheme for a further six months to end of March 2013. It is unlikely, however, that there will be any further enhancements beyond this due to “resource constraints”.
